Marvels of Rome: Where to Travel

Posted on October 25, 2022 by Brandon Saader

No other city can compete with Rome when it comes to iconic architecture and symbols of the Christian faith. The city is home to four papal basilicas and seven pilgrimage churches, each more fascinating than the other.

Romantic Spanish Steps and trendy fashion shops come together to add to the wonders of Rome. The truth is that Rome can be overwhelmingly large for die-hard sightseers. There are many attractions to visit and usually not enough time. So here are the 4 best attractions in Rome:

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is perhaps the most emblematic monument to visit in Rome. With a capacity of more than 50,000 spectators, Colosseum is the largest amphitheater preserved from the Roman empire. This is the place where famous gladiatorial combats happened.

The Roman Forum

The Roman Forum is the symbol of religious and public life in ancient Rome. This magical place was buried for a long time, and it wasn’t until the 20th century that excavations were carried out. Notable landmarks in the Roman Forum include Via Sacra, Arch of Titus, Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, and Arch of Septimius Severus.

Piazza Venezia

Once you have finished visiting the Roman Forum, head up to the Via Dei Fori Imperiali, and find Piazza Venezia. The huge white marble building is dedicated to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of Italy. Next to it, you can visit Trajan’s Column and get an amazing panoramic view of Rome on the roof.

Spanish Steps

Steps are not attractions in any part of the world, but Rome is an exception! Composed of 12 ramps and 135 travertine steps, Spanish Steps are the widest, longest, and probably the most aesthetically pleasing staircase in Europe.

Rome is a marvelous city. No one gets to visit all of its attractions, but at least these four sights you should not miss.
